Save the Date for the HBA Open House

Meet the officers that patrol Hillcrest at the next HBA Open House.

Each quarter the HBA hosts an open house and mixer so members can catch up on all the goings on in the neighborhood and at the HBA.  At the next mixer, the SDPD beat officers that patrol our neighborhood will be on hand to get to know business people and answer questions.  This is your chance to meet the very officers who keep Hillcrest safe from day to day! They want to hear from you.
Save the Date: for morning coffee on March 15, at 8am, at Lestat’s Coffee House at 1041 University Ave.

Hillcrest Mardi Gras on the horizon

Mardi Gras is always a festive time in Hillcrest and this year we’re helping customers to explore the neighborhood with Hillcrest Fat Tuesday party busses. The festive and decorated busses will be a party unto themselves and they’ll tour customers around Hillcrest on the Saturday before Hillcrest Fat Tuesday from 6pm-11pm! At each stop there will be vendors, performers, and promotions! Please fill out the attached form to participate. Bus sponsorship opportunities are also available.

We’re hoping to grow Mardi Gras weekend (Saturday through Tuesday) into a destination event for Hillcrest. We’re going to showcase all the fun activities that are already going on in Hillcrest! Customers on the bus tour will collect signature beads at each participating location. Anyone that collects all the beads will win prizes! At each stop on the bus route sign-posts will direct customers to participating businesses. As a business participant, you can either host a promotion in your store or set up a vendor location at the bus stop. Please fill out the attached form to participate

East MAD Expansion

You can help clean up the east end of Hillcrest

Hillcrest cannot continue to grow unless we address these cleaning and safety challenges!

For the last year, the HBA has been working to expand the East Hillcrest Maintenance Assessment District (EMAD).  This expanded district would levy a special assessment on property owners on the east end of Hillcrest to pay for enhanced security, cleaning (including steam cleaning) and gardening services, much like what occurs on the west end of the neighborhood.  For years, east Hillcrest has suffered from trash, sidewalk gum, dead trees, and homelessness.   We need tools to address these things.  They’ve done it in other neighborhoods and we can do it here.

Come to a public meeting to hear about the new Hillcrest EMAD and the Hillcrest Clean and Safe program.  If you’re a property owner, it’s critical that you come.  If you’re a tenant, invite your property owner to join you.
